Presentations included an update of the USAHA IDOHC EIA Subcommittee activities from Dr. Ernie Zirkle, NJ Department of Agriculture (retired); A Review & Insight into Equine Piroplasmosis Surveillance from Dr. Leroy Coffman, Flroida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, An update on the Status of National EVA Control Initiative from Amy Mann, American Horse Council, The Continuing Threat to the U.S. Horse Population Posed by CEM, from Dr. Peter Timoney, University of Kentucky and an Update on Mare Reproductive Loss Syndrome (MRLS) from Dr. David Powell, University of Kentucky.

 

Handouts were provided regarding the Testing formats for EIA and Expected Results and the updated EIA VS Memo 555.16.

 

The discussion following each presentation was relevant to the topic presented, focused primarily on clarification of points raised in the presentation and was generally non-controversial.

There were no presentations.  Members were provided a copy of the NIAA Resolutions booklet if needed.

 

The Committee agreed to remove resolutions #56, #57 and #61 finding that these resolutions had been fulfilled.  The Committee re-affirmed resolutions numbered 58, 59 & 60.  One new resolution regarding Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) was introduced, discussed and approved and a new position statement on Contagious Equine Metritis was also approved.
