NIAA PRV Eradication Task Force-2003 Mid-year Committee Report

Pseudorabies Eradication Task Force

Mid-year Report
September 9, 2003

During the 2003 NIAA Leaders Forum, the following report was given:

The PRV Task Force met in Tampa, Florida to develop a framework document for states to assess and control interface of feral and domestic swine.  This document was amended at the annual meeting and will be presented at USAHA.

Chairman Jim Leafstedt along with Dr. Sundberg of the National Pork Board went to Riverdale, MD to meet with Vet Services officials on the need for update and refining the National Plan for PRV post eradication.  A meeting of selected members of the PRV Task Force will be held in Des Moines, September 22 and 23 to review the Post Eradication Plan.  That revision will be presented at USAHA and later to the NIAA PRV Task Force.

Status of the task force should be reviewed after USAHA to assess the need to continue based on subjects for discussion that arise.
