NIAA Youth Programs Committee -- 2004 CommitteeReport

Youth Programs Committee Report
April 7, 2004

There were 5 people in attendance.  The light attendance was thought to be partly due to the fact that
the presentation of the data regarding the national lamb tail docking study was presented at the Sheep
Health and Animal Care Committee meetings earlier in the day.  The committee members still agreed
with the decision to present this data three times to get that information out to more people.  As a result
of presentation of the data three times, approximately 45 conference participants were exposed to the
information.

Scott Nash, Extension Educator from Idaho, made the other presentation at the Youth Programs Committee.  He presented data from a statewide study that explored the effect of youth livestock and horse judging educational efforts on the life skill and job skill development of young people.

Resolutions were reviewed with minor changes being made.  No new resolutions were proposed.
