R. Scott Stuart Named Vice Chairman of the Board of National Institute for Animal Agriculture
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – R. Scott Stuart was recently elected to serve as vice chairman of the board of directors of the National Institute for Animal Agriculture (NIAA) during the association’s annual meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah. Stuart will fill the role vacated by Dr. Rick Sibbel, who was concurrently named chairman of the board.
“Scott Stuart has been a key contributor to this organization for many years,” said Glenn Slack, NIAA president and CEO. “It is a pleasure to have him moving into this leadership position as NIAA addresses issues facing our industry.” Stuart will serve a two-year term as board vice chairman, before taking over as chairman.
Stuart is the president and CEO of the National Livestock Producers Association, an organization that represents cooperative livestock marketers and lenders. Stuart, who resides in Colorado Springs, Colo., served previously as treasurer for NIAA and has been a board member since 1995. In addition, Stuart currently sits on the National Animal Identification Development Team Steering Committee.
“It is an honor to serve as vice chairman of NIAA,” said Stuart. “Our association has been a member of NIAA, and its predecessor organization, Livestock Conservation Institute, for nearly 25 years and we’ve always been impressed with the unique forum NIAA creates in which to interact with other industry representatives, and state and federal animal health officials in the areas of animal health and animal care.”
The National Institute for Animal Agriculture provides a forum for building consensus and advancing solutions for animal agriculture and provides continuing education and communication linkages to animal agriculture professionals. NIAA is dedicated to programs that: work toward the eradication of diseases that pose risk to the health of animals, wildlife and humans; promote a safe and wholesome food supply for our nation and abroad; and promote best practices in environmental stewardship, animal health and well-being.
